Sunday Night Report: Entertainment News Weekly

If you guys thought I copied the title from last week’s post to place it here, you’re wrong. I typed every single title of my blog. It’s just coincidental, that’s all…

Welcome back, to this… blog that even I’m lazy to update. Let’s finish this, shall we?

ANIME
Samurai Flamenco (somehow I like to start in this sequence): Well the (stupid) hero Masayoshi announced to the country about the emergency, and it caused chaos. Nevertheless, that was least of their problems. But what’s most impactful I guess if the cliffhanger of Masayoshi having a twin. Well I don’t know about that, but let’s see how this goes. From impression it may be another breakthrough for hero shows in Anime history.
Nagi no Asukara: Now that Hikari has spent most of the episode being together with Miuna and in school again, I guess Sayu should get her share of action, now that they revealed a naked Kaname appearing from the tailor shop they visited to do school uniforms. Let’s hope Manaka comes back, okay? *sob* I mean, *sob* she better come back… *sob*
Golden Time: It’s the beach! And talking about going to the beach, someone here is being a b*tch. Yesh, the other Banri who is hiding in the shadows. Interestingly, the trip still ended on a good note, but the accident… brought out the other Banri? Things are about to get even more surreal…

Very sad that Seitokai Yakuindomo is taking its time to get subbed. Well no choice, I don’t know Japanese to well to watch shows, and even if I do I won’t understand the sick jokes without the subtitles. Haha.

SHOWS
MythBusters: Sadly this episode is one that has been aired sometime last year. So I shall no talk about it. Next week is new episode, so I’ll look forward to that.

KLASSIC NOTE
This week… quite a lot I guess. But somehow I don’t have the brains to absorb the songs recently, so I’ll stick to the initial selections. Still deciding on another song from FictionJunction besides “stone cold” from their new album, which are both not new songs from the album itself, so it’s like… Yeah. Tonari no Seki-kun’s theme song disc also is quite good, but seeing that they both have something to comment on (OP is flashy, ED is too long and only instrumental), I decided to give one of them the chance, and naturally Kana-chan was the choice. Yesterday, I also got hold of ClariS new single, which is to release next week. It’s quite typical like the others, but I guess listening to the A-side is nothing bad, huh. Also found out they has their first live event this year like 2 weeks ago, and shows their silhouettes on their last song “reunion”. Special TV footage shows that it is true, but honestly saying I want to see them in person. And I guess everyone (or every guy) who likes them. So really SonyMusic, stop keeping it down already. They’re already in the legal age…

Also, just got Oreimo’s last ED single, but first impressions aren't good. So I’ll tell you if I choose any of them next week…

On a side note, been listening to quite a lot of miwa songs, took one from her latest album which I was hesitant in “Sparrow”, and looking forward to her new single after listening to its preview “Faith”. Pretty damn awesome. My sis also agreed with me. All it needs is an awesome PV, and a 5-star rating is not far away…

Also (finally) got hold of Ayachi’s first live performance (wanted Kana-chan’s too, but…), which is under a different music company compared to Tomacchan, Aki-chan and Mina-chan (MusicRayn, under SonyMusic by the way), so I thought it would be different. But what much caught my attention is Ayachi’s performance in singing. Honestly, critics (if there were) would agree that she rushes through songs even though they are not quick in tempo, and she cried on one song. Okay, half a song. The other half is her crying on her birthday live. Yesh, and still different from her live which is a day performance, compared to her birthday celebrations at night. Kinda confusing isn’t it? But I guess she tried her best, so I shall not ask for more. Besides, I’m just there to listen to songs, not critic on her singing…

I guess that’s all. Damn long liao. Not that I’m in a rush tomorrow (since I’m not going back tonight), so I’ll be doing up Seitokai tomorrow, I guess. Cya guys then. Trying not to suffer from depression, so I should avoid typing. Trying to get the mood to write APoL, like three more chapters before March. So I better get to it. The mood. Until next time…

Sunday Night Report: The Cost-Effective Plan

Hey. Been thinking about this for the week and think it is something I’d like to discuss, or share with you guys.

See, ever since I started this “Klassic Note” thing, things have been more advanced, especially the places whom I hear songs from, to where I can actually buy the songs. That somehow explains why CDs from Japan can end up on my shelf here on the equator. But then I noticed the sustainability of such a plan, and have thus decided on another plan which is more cost-effective and with an insurance. Yesh, digital downloads.

PLAN A – DIGITAL DOWNLOADS

You see, iTunes has been a music upload site for many music companies, and strictly abides by laws with its software and charges people who buy the songs. And recently, all the songs I hear from have also made their presence known on the iTunes store, from companies like SonyMusic Japan, Lantis to Victor Entertainment and Starchild and so on. Therefore, I consider it an idea to buy every song I intend to put in my list, so as to assure I have the source when I want to, in the cloud. Problem here is only to sign up for an Apple ID, which is cumbersome and… it’s another account to remember, dammit.

PLAN B – FAVOURITE DISCS ONLY

Or I can just actually stick to my original way of doing things, well this isn’t another plan anyway, just the way I’ve been doing things since I started: Leech it off the Internet and get back on the Internet when I need to. Especially every year when I have to sort out my songs. This, however, has plenty of limitations, including having to wait for it to appear (like I mentioned in the previous post) with the emphasis for songs I intend to hear but never appears in full, and the variations of source types, like file types, bitrates and so on. But I also miss the hard copies of the songs I truly like, and the special stuff like photos, and recently I’ve been able to pre-order them off the official stores. So you see, a plan is actually very crucial, especially when I’m seven years into listening this already…

Here’s a table to compare these two ways of keeping my songs, including financial cost, using last year’s song count as an example:

  DIGITAL DOWNLOADS FAVOURITE DISCS ONLY
Availability All available, as long as music company is signed in iTunes Unless I buy those songs featured in the CDs
Waiting Time (in terms of review) Immediately after date of release of CD Vary from before the week of release till the end of time?
“Songs which I heard previews only?” “I can just download and listen.” “I can just wait… and wait…”
Preparations Requires Apple ID and iTunes CD shopping. Requires an account and procedures to order or even pre-order
Backup of sources Always available in the cloud, in my account I can download and keep, the rest may become unavailable over time
Indie artist songs Unavailable, even if want and can purchase May be available if seen on the Net
Cost (Considering 2013, 205 songs) One song = 250yen
Total = 250 x 205
= 51250yen
= about SGD 626*
Assuming one CD single = 1200yen
one CD album = 3000yen,
Total = 2 albums x 3000
+ 21 singles x 1200
= 31200yen
= about SGD 382*
(*All prices estimated using Google, on 2014.01.19)
(**So I actually spent so much last year…)

So you see, it’s actually worth thinking. What do you guys think? Should I make the switch? And don’t tell me to do both: I don’t have that much money to spare, spending 1K a year in this…

[P.S.: Also, Happy Birthday, Lindsey. Hope you’re enjoying your 21st. Just don’t end up… you know what I’m saying.]

Sunday Night Report: Entertainment News Weekly

Hi guys. Welcome back to the- Am I repeating the same thing from seven days ago? (Audience: I think so..) Since it’s so, let’s get star- Oops,

ANIME
Samurai Flamenco: Now this show is getting serious, I would like to see how Masayoshi would handle this with his master gone missing (don’t tell me he’s the liability) and the whole team taking his call. It wasn’t that bad till this far. I mean, this show’s storyline…
Nagi no Asukara: As Hikari comes back, emotions tangle as people talk about missing the passage of time. I mean, five years man. Much would have happened to everyone, even if it is a year. But not all cry over this; Miuna seems to be rather overjoyed about this. So will Saya as Kaname comes back from the hibernation, I guess?
Golden Time: Oh yesh, the guys are planning a beach trip, and how Kouko is so desperate to attract Banri’s attention, hopefully with some help from Oka-chan. Or the little girl also needs help herself. Haha. And honestly, I would be lying if I say that I’m not looking forward to the next episode already, haha.
Tonari no Seki-kun OAD: This airs before the premier of the show, but has only get subbed till now. Features two things Seki-kun does on his desk, Bo-taoshi with sand and touching cats. Especially the cats. Seriously got Kana-chan hyped up about touching them. And her ways of getting the cats’ attention. For me, it’s the same, but Kana-chan’s my cat. Haha.

Seitokai Yakuindomo? I don’t know, it’s been slow this week… And MythBusters too…

KLASSIC NOTE
You guys should’ve known about my reaction towards Tomacchan’s new single on Twitter, but I’ll say it here anyway; the word limit is not present here. When I initially see the 5-minute mark I get kind of worried, but it sounds like the typical song format that these studio composers would come up with. And I gave up on the B-side. Kuusou Iinkai is not online yet, so I guess I’ll have to wait. Oreimo ED CD comes next week too, the last two already, and FictionJunction’s album too, which I already set my eyes ears on one of the songs already. Just wanting for more. Haha.

Also not been searching for songs too, even though I give some lives many chances already, like Ikimono-gakari and miwa. Ayachi’s live has not been fully loaded on my com yet, so that is going to be a problem. Never mind, I’ll talk about it when it comes. At most I’ll talk about it during Chinese New Year?

I guess that’s all. Stay tuned for more, as I talk about a decision of how I SHOULD spend my money on songs…

(Audience: Like… how?)

Like… buying songs type-of “how”…

Sunday Night Report: Entertainment News Weekly

Hi guys, and welcome to my weekly dosage of entertainment, reported. Well, that’s the normal way of saying it. And yesh, after this week we’ll be seeing a longer list of reviews, because all the shows are back from last season after a hiatus, and Klassic Note this year is going to start next week. Let’s begin.

ANIME
Samurai Flamenco: Hmm just another episode like the front few, talking less of fighting but teamwork and stuff. Hope next episode would be less ridiculous. Haha. Really.

Just take note that not that I don’t talk about the new theme songs, but I’ll do it separately. Probably 3 paragraphs after this.

Nagi no Asukara: The previous incident and 5 years after it sets the story, as Chisaki and Tsumugu (the ones left that are the main cast) live on life and discover that the people in the sea have finished their hibernating! And of all the first people and expected is Hikari! You may be wondering where’s Manaka, but I’m more shocked of the fact that… those hibernating have not changed their age. That somewhat is good news for the two kids from five years ago, I guess. Looking forward to next episode already; currently most prospective show amongst the three that continued this week.

Golden Time: The third that got a break for the new year. Story continues about the festival performance, and plenty of romance between Kouko and the NEW Banri. Yep the old one currently got popped out again. More next episode, I guess? I mean, the romance?

Seitokai Yakuindomo: Almost forgot, but not forgotten, the weekly dosage of sick jokes. Well problem is I read 150 chapters of the Manga over the week and now know what jokes are appearing on the show. Shouldn’t have done that in the first place. Looking forward to next episode though, they’re on a trip AGAIN. Oops.

MANGA
Seitokai Yakuindomo: As I mentioned above, yes over the week. So many jokes now I feel that I don’t need a jer**ff now, haha. No, really. Too many jokes in one go already…

Tonari no Kashiwagi-san: Weekly dosage of moe, but more on Yuuto passing his exams with the help from the girls. Now actually more focused on the success love story than the one in development. Saya-chan is also pretty darn cute…

Nagasarete Airantou: Ikuto is being himself in a harem, and the girls find out more about him. Actually, is them fighting more for him. Well, all in a day’s harassment. Still waiting for the return of the men (Ikuto is a boy, I think) from the island, so that things can get a move on…

SHOWS
MythBusters: Talking about… Moonshine apparently, and though I don’t drink it, interesting to talk about alcohol and its purposes once in a while.
CrazyGod: Started a new series featuring Wong Fei-hung and Bruce Lee. Haha. Yep the old man with the gout if Mr. Wong.

KLASSIC NOTE
Starting the year with… pathetic. 7 SONGS? How am I going to live on this year? I could easily have twice this last year…

Anime theme songs: For Samurai Flamenco, they are worth for thought. FLOW did quite well in the opening, and Triple-M is going good on the ending. The girls are having an album of theirs on March, so guess I’ll have to wait for it, along with FLOW. Golden Time… not so good, as the composers decide on expanding Kouko’s desires for her guy on the songs too. Not very good news. Thought Hocchan’s new single would be a catch. Now feels like Toradora! and her 2-single theme songs run back then. Nagi no Asukara is by far the most pleasing, but then it had it’s fair share of imperfection. Ray’s good for the opening again, and totally brought out the mood for the show. The commercial showing her in the snow is also looking promising for the song. However there’s… how do you call that… like, speeches in the song, in just 90 seconds, so I cannot say it’s awesome. Ending wise quite well done by Yanagi Nagi, and the single’s out on my birthday. So hope it’ll be my birthday present too. Haha…

On a side note, even though I’ve listened to Satomi-chan for like a month already, the ending song for Seitokai Yakuindomo sounds good. Even better if they give me a PV right now.

Also, finally got hold of Ore no Imouto ending songs which could’ve appeared last month, and only chose one of them. The songs are slowly getting disappointing, huh…

If not mentioned, anything missing in action (ie. MIA) has been resting. Most likely have news of them next week, like Kuroshitsuji Manga along with BLEACH. Cya guys next week, as I think of what to post next. I cannot promise an APoL release though. Been having a lot going through my mind…

Sunday Night Report: Entertainment News Weekly

Really, I should consider doing it up like a magazine column. This “Entertainment News” thing.

Hi guys, welcome back. Every week I make an effort to comment about the weekly entertainment I get so to not forget the other half of my life, which obviously is less mentionable than this half. So, shall we begin?

ANIME
SEITOKAI YAKUINDOMO! YESH! It’s back! As you guys would know, it’s… just a show of people talking sick jokes. Not all of them, but most of them. If you don’t mind a laugh that is probably not suitable for kids, this show is good. It’s already the second season and I don’t see it getting any worse. Hope they keep it up though, don’t want this show to be disappointing.

MANGA
Also would be chasing Seitokai Yakuindomo manga to as far as it is translated (in English), and then let the Anime take me away.

MUSIC
Sad is the case that even though I got to hear of the Opening Theme of the show, the Ending Theme – which I was more looking forward to listening to a studio version – has not appeared. Looks like it’s next week, but I’m eager to see its ending animation. Have not been looking for new songs recently, so the current stand is… 6 songs? Yep. Not a heavy start this year, and I’ve got one more week before the start of Klassic Note…

Talking about that, Klassic Note Song Awards website has been updated with Top 20 Preview clips from SoundCloud (if you guys know that it’s awesome stuff) and updated images on the home page. Also a special site has been mentioned celebrating the 5th Anniversary of me… yep listening to J-Pop mainly. More importantly and recently, I’ve also been keeping up a Twitter account by the tag @KlassicNote so you guys can go check it out as I will regularly update on Song of the day and many other facts throughout the years. Don’t know too much about Twitter though, will be continuing my effort on maintaining it, don’t worry!

For lives… I’ve recently seen Ikimono-gakari’s live for last year (yep new year already) and it’s great. Quite a lot of songs that I have not been listening. Great, really. Will take the live into consideration for new songs this year…

SHOWS
MYTHBUSTERS! The other thing that got me to wake up this morning, apart from Seitokai Yakuindomo. They start the season with Star Wars special, so all the myths are rather fictional, as to say. But then glad they turned out Plausible, or I wouldn’t even bother watching already.

Cya guys then. I think I’ll have some things to do too, that’s why the “early” post. Until next time… I’ll try to update from my phone if I can remember my dreams? Friday night’s one is about me singing the Samurai Flamenco ending song wrongly or something like that…
