Well since I have an opinion, I might as well say it here. And also the many things that are affected because of the recent haze due to irresponsible farmers burning crops in Indonesia as cheaper means sent the smoke flying west followed by a unlucky south wind that ended making a little red dot blinded in a haze of PSI readings up to 400 unhealthy just a few days ago. Well, that pretty much sums up everything. How was it? (Audience: Wonderful. Have no idea why you would fail in the General Paper.) (Hmm I wonder too…)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION (I noticed doing in points makes it easier to me to write and you to understand!)
About a week ago (yesh it has been already) Singapore sees a sudden haze enveloping the skies of this small city-state (as how the papers call our country), which sent PSI (Pollution Standards Index) readings sky high, reaching 401 on Friday noon, twice the worst they saw since 1996, or is it 1997? Oh whatever. Anyways, it’s bad. And long-term exposure to such a haze is bad for health (need I explain this anyway?), so makes people stop activities and avoid the outdoors.
IMPLICATIONS
Well, there are many. In “The New Paper” (Local newspaper name, people. If you don’t know means you don’t even bother reading FREE newspapers.) reactions have been seen at first is prevention. People start to comb all pharmacies and stores which sell effective masks like the N95, famous for its appearance from the SARS incident in 2003. Prices of masks have thus been high, with stores selling twice the price and other people selling at blackmail prices. Also, this has restricted the outdoor activities of people. Since it’s starting of peak PSI numbers on Tuesday, parade rehearsals have been called off (SAF Day Parade, I heard also NDP) and more focused on wet weather indoor rehearsals (which I’m still in it, no choice). Yesh, even my meals were done indoors that day, haha. Last Friday’s biathlon have also been cancelled (I’m not inside so doesn’t matter) and we have a half day off despite the cancellation of the event. The battalion have also decided on cancelling the Formation Run in Marina Barrage today, which is why I’m here. Haha. *woots*
At home, this weekend was spent mostly… indoors. And not only indoors, indoors with air-con on. Like now. Haha. No, not now. I explain to you guys why later. Over the weekend just below my block no one is seen at the nearby playground, nor on the streets when I go home frequently from camp. Seriously, man. People are SCAAAARED.
THE SITUATION NOW
As we can see from the recent PSI readings have dropped close to healthy standards, more people are seen out of buildings already. (Not me, you wish) Personally I’m not using the air-con anymore despite the heat, because… there’s no haze. So why bother? The cold air makes my hands sweaty, and my knees don’t like the cold. At least for now, we can safely say… we’re safe? Do you guys even know why it’s like that now? Yesh, there suddenly comes a northern wind just yesterday which helped clear the air above my homeland…
NOW WHAT?
Well we shall see, then. I hope to only do the wet weather program for SAF Day Parade (Yesh I’m in it up to here *points at neck*), and avoid another week’s physical activities, but from the looks of it… Nah maybe not. But I could be wrong, haha. So looking at the government’s point of view, observing the situation seems to deem fit. Really, the f****ing gahmen sent out the N95 masks so late until the smoke clear off liao then give expensive masks to the poor? Seriously.
Cya guys then, until next time… I should be talking about my NEW PACKAGE!!! *ding dong* Oops, I got to answer the door~
[P.S.: That was a fluke. The real one supposedly comes at Wednesday. Or Thursday. Or Friday, anytime within this week. I’m only just guessing…]
[P.P.S.: *pant* I’m tired. I need a nap. WHERE THE HECK IS THE AIR-CON REMOTE?]
